#356 Why Mikey Musumeci Was Stripped of His One Championship Title & Polaris 29 Recap
This week on the show, Maine and Miranda discuss Mikey Musumeci being stripped of his One Championship Flyweight ttle, after a complicated series, events involving a weight cut a change of opponent, and the One Championship hydration rules. We talk about his hospitalization and him being stripped of the belt, and potentially some of the financial drivers that are taking place at One Championship.
In the recap section of the show, we break down all of the main card matches on Polaris 29, including some of the controversial scoring in the number of the matches.
In Diego Pato Oliveira vs Ashley Williams we talk about the top passing from Pato and in his Decision win over Ash and how it was great to see Ash in the Gi.
In Jacob Rodriguez vs Mohammed Avtarhanov we discussed some of the potentially controversial scoring that led to the split decision win for Mo and talk about the 10 point must system versus the straight round system in scoring.
In Tainan Dalpra vs Tarik Hopstock we discussed Tainan week of change of opponent, and how Tainan and seemed hell-bent on the Tarikolplata even continuing to go for it after hop stock tapped to the Kimura.
In Cole Abate vs Sam McNally we talked about how great it was to see Cole again after a long layoff due to injury and how it was nice to see him shake the rust off.
In Davis Asare vs George Pearse we talked again about the scoring system at Polaris, and how, although Davis looked good at the beginning, he seemingly completely gassed in the last period of the match, allowing for a phenomenal amount of offense and sub attempts from George late in the match that Davis weathered to win the decision.
In Jed Hue vs Julian Espinosa we talked about Jed, finally being the bigger guy in a match, potentially allowing him to work on some wrestling and stand up in the early part of the match, and then playing a great counter game late in the match to take a decision.
We also talk about a few upcoming Keith Krikorian matches this coming week.
